Lilt — Help & Support
Welcome! Here's how to get help, report bugs, or suggest features.
Quick start
Adding a task
- On Mac: press ⌘⇧T from any app to open the Quick Add panel. Type the task, hit Return.
- On iPhone: tap the + button on the Board tab, or ask Siri: "Add a task to Lilt".
- From the menu bar (Mac): click the Lilt icon in your menu bar, type into the Quick Add field, hit Return.
Tracking a habit
- Open the Habits tab.
- Tap + New Habit.
- Give it a name, set how many times per day, pick a color and icon.
- Tap the circle on the right whenever you complete it.
Viewing your progress
Open the Analytics tab to see your completion rate, perfect days, current streaks, and a per-habit heat map for the last 7, 30, or 90 days.
iCloud sync
Lilt syncs automatically across your Mac and iPhone via iCloud, as long as:
- Both devices are signed into the same Apple ID.
- iCloud Drive is enabled (Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → iCloud Drive).
- You have an internet connection.
Sync usually happens within 5–15 seconds. After app updates, allow 30–60 seconds for the schema to settle.
If sync stops working
- Open Settings (Lilt menu → Settings on Mac, ⚙️ icon on iPhone) → check the iCloud Sync section. The status indicator and diagnostic log will tell you what's happening.
- Force-quit Lilt on both devices and reopen.
- Sign out of iCloud and sign back in (Settings → Apple ID → Sign Out).
- Make sure iCloud storage isn't full.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
On your device, and in your private iCloud database. The developer has no access. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I share tasks or projects with another person?
Not currently. Lilt is a personal tool — no collaboration features.
What happens to old completed tasks?
- Tasks marked Done stay visible in the Kanban board for 2 days.
- They remain in the Archive tab for 30 days total (where you can reopen them).
- After 30 days, they're permanently deleted.
Can I customize the keyboard shortcut on Mac?
Not yet. The default is ⌘⇧T. Custom bindings are on the roadmap.
How do I change the menu bar icon or hide the Dock icon?
- Hide Dock icon: Settings → Appearance → toggle off "Show in Dock". Lilt becomes a menu bar–only app.
- The menu bar icon is currently fixed.
Will Lilt always be free / no subscription?
Yes. Lilt is a personal project, not a business. There are no ads, no subscriptions, and no plans to add them.
Does Lilt work without iCloud?
Yes. Sign out of iCloud or disable iCloud Drive and Lilt keeps working locally on each device. Data just won't sync across devices.
Reporting bugs or suggesting features
Email: sai@stara42.com
Please include:
- Which device (Mac model + macOS version, iPhone model + iOS version)
- App version (Settings → About)
- What you did and what you expected vs. what happened
- A screenshot if it's a visual issue
If it's a sync issue, please include a screenshot of the Settings → iCloud Sync section — the diagnostic log there is very helpful for debugging.
Known limitations (v1.0)
- No team / shared lists (intentional — Lilt is personal-only)
- No subtasks
- No tags (use projects instead)
- No recurring tasks (use habits for daily/recurring items)
- No web app (Mac + iPhone only)
Some of these may change in future versions based on what people actually need.
Lilt is built by an independent developer. Thanks for trying it.
